Once you are admitted to UMBC, you will receive instructions regarding how to register for orientation. If you plan to participate in Dawg Days: Jumpstart, it is REQUIRED that you attend orientation during the month of June prior to the start of the program in early July.

Students considering Dawg Days: Jumpstart are strongly encouraged to attend orientation on June 13th or 20th, 2019. There is also the option to attend the Dawg Days: Basecamp overnight orientation program from June 18th to 19th.

To learn more about registering for orientation, please visit the Undergraduate Orientation website. If these dates are not available, please contact us as we may be able to register you for one of these dates.

Placement Testing

It is also imperative that you complete the online placement tests. We recommend that you prepare for these tests and take them seriously as the results will be used to place you in the appropriate Math and English courses.

You MUST complete the placement tests prior to attending orientation and prior to the start of the program as these tests will determine if students place into MATH106, MATH150, MATH151 or ENGL100 which are offered as part of the program. These tests will also help you make the best choices in planning your schedule, not only for Dawg Days: Jumpstart, but for the fall semester.

You will register for fall courses when you attend Orientation, which as stated earlier, must take place during the month of June. Full details on placement testing and sample tests are provided on the Learning Resources Center website. If you need special testing accommodations because of a disability, please contact The Office of Student Disability Services at 410-455-2459 or email at as soon as possible.
